What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapists are experts in the composition of the human body and its movement. They use evidence-based treatment to work amongst GP’s, specialists, and surgeons to manage people of all ages for conditions that involve pain or mobility. Services include treating and preventing sporting injuries, workplace injuries and even chronic conditions including, osteoarthritis, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and stroke.

Physiotherapists are primary care practitioners who are able to accurately assess, diagnose, and treat conditions without requiring a referral from a doctor.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
No. Physiotherapy is a primary contact profession in Australia, so you can book directly. A referral is only needed if you are claiming under a Medicare chronic disease management plan, or through certain workers compensation and DVA arrangements.
What is the difference between physiotherapy and chiropractic?
There is real overlap, and both treat musculoskeletal pain effectively. Broadly, physiotherapy leans toward exercise-based rehabilitation and restoring function after injury or surgery; chiropractic leans toward joint assessment and manual therapy. With both under one roof we can start you with whichever fits your presentation and move you between them without a referral wait.
What should I wear to a physiotherapy appointment?
Something you can move in and that allows access to the area being treated — shorts for a knee or hip problem, a singlet or t-shirt for a shoulder. If you have relevant scans, reports or a post-surgical protocol, bring those as well.
How soon after an injury should I be seen?
Early is better for most acute injuries. Early management shapes the outcome more than anything that follows, and the first week is when protected loading, range of motion and an accurate diagnosis matter most. If you cannot weight-bear or there is obvious deformity, seek medical assessment or imaging first.
Do you treat post-surgical rehabilitation?
Yes — knee reconstructions, shoulder repairs and joint replacements among others. If your surgeon has provided a protocol, bring it; we will work to it and coordinate rather than around it.
Can I claim on private health insurance?
Yes. HICAPS is available at both clinics, so your rebate is processed at the appointment and you pay only the gap. What you get back depends on your fund and level of extras cover, and on how much of your annual limit you have already used.
Where are you located and when are you open?
Marrickville is at Shop 1/20-22 Station St and is open seven days. Wetherill Park is at Unit 2/442-446 Victoria St and is open six days — we are closed there on Thursdays. Bookings are taken separately for each clinic.
